Question

When in BIG-IQ - System - BIG-IQ DATA COLLECTION - BIG-IQ Data Collection Cluster - Summary - Status we have a message

At least one primary shard (and all of its replicas) are missing.

And curious how to fix it.

Any ideas?

You can reference the F5 KB article K81715478 found here but what it basically says you can delete the DCDs and re-add which is a huge pain in the butt.  You can also try and reassign unassigned shards and that also is a pain so I just go the lazy way and delete unassigned shards by running the following command on the BIG-IQ CM

curl -s -k https://localhost:9200/_cat/shards | grep UNAS | awk '{print $1}' | sort | uniq | sed 's/+/%2B/g' | while read line ; do curl -s -k -X DELETE "https://localhost:9200/$line" ; done

After running this command you'll see messages scroll by on your screen like the following

{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}{"acknowledged":true}

Once it stops scrolling you can check again the Health of the BIG-IQ Data Collection Cluster and you should see its green (Operational)
